Tussle Craft Skin Lab

Meet the Maker

The Coach & The Craftsman

Two disciplines. One lab. The protocol behind Tussle Craft is the synthesis of three decades on the mat and three decades in the studio.

The Coach on the wrestling mat

THE COACH

I've spent over three decades in the wrestling room. I know the reality of the grind — the sweat, the friction, and the constant threat of skin issues that can sideline a season. Tussle Craft wasn't a business idea; it was a coach's necessity. I needed a decontamination protocol that protected my athletes without stripping their skin's natural defense.

THE ARTIST

Parallel to my life on the mat is my 35-year career as a Visual Artist. My work in decorative arts and material finishes is defined by an obsession with the ‘finish.’ I brought that same eye to the lab. I don't see soap as a commodity; I see it as a functional sculpture. Every bar is a study in material integrity — from the unrefined shea butter to the precise mineral ratios of the clays.

The Connection

Bridging the Studio & The Mat

Tussle Craft is the synthesis of these two worlds — functional tools made with artisanal soul. The grit of the wrestling room demands performance; the discipline of the studio demands integrity. Every bar is engineered as a defense protocol and finished as an object worth keeping on the shelf.

Brand Guidelines

The Tussle Craft Philosophy

Four pillars. Two disciplines. One protocol.

Pillar · I

The Rectangular Form

Form follows function.

The Intent

We reject decorative molds in favor of a rugged, 4oz rectangular block.

The Duality

To the Coach, this is grip and utility in a gym bag. To the Artist, it is a minimalist canvas that lets the natural marbling of the clays be the focus.

Pillar · II

Material Integrity

No synthetic dyes. No cheap fillers.

The Intent

We use Unrefined Shea Butter and Mineral Clays — nothing else.

The Duality

The Coach demands a functional skin barrier; the Artist demands the raw, honest texture of the earth. The color of our soap is the color of the ingredients.

Pillar · III

The Maturation Protocol

Quality cannot be rushed.

The Intent

Every bar undergoes a mandatory 6-week cure.

The Duality

For the Artist, this is the drying time required for the work to set. For the Coach, this is the pre-season where the soap develops the hardness and chemistry needed for the grind.

Pillar · IV

The Stone Aesthetic

A clinical-artisanal finish.

The Intent

Our Stone Grey and Cigar Band packaging is the lab's precision and the studio's edit.

The Duality

We don't hide the soap; we verify it. Every batch is labeled, dated, and accountable.

“True quality is found in the grit of the grind and the precision of the craft.”
